Description
The Trane VAL4468 thermal expansion valve is a supply of effective and constant cooling operation in older Trane HVAC systems based on R-22 refrigerant. This thermal expansion valve is 5.7″ long and made of robust brass for long-term performance. The VAL4468 differs from modern TXVs with electrical controls in that it uses a thermal actuator. The temperature of the evaporator coil is what this actuator responds to. The Tranemeasures exactly how much R-22 refrigerant flows through an evaporator coil to optimize its performance. An underfilled coil will decrease cooling efficiency and an overfilled coil will damage the compressor.
