Unlike other valves that are operated by pressure, the TXV used a temperature-sensing component to control the refrigerant. This element changes in size depending on the temperature within the evaporator coil. When it warms, the valve opens, permitting a huge amount of liquid refrigerant into the coil for sake of heat absorption.
