Description
The Xylem-Bell & Gossett 1BN332, also known as the HFT-60V, is a 32-gallon expansion tank used in hydronic heating systems, which can be used in both residential and light commercial settings. It works by absorbing changes in pressure brought on by the water’s thermal expansion inside the closed-loop heating system. By doing this, excessive pressure building is avoided, reducing the risk of damage to machinery like boilers and pumps. A pre-charged diaphragm in the tank keeps the compressed air chamber and water apart. The air is compressed by the expanding water as the temperature of the water rises, allowing for an increase in volume without going over the system’s pressure limit. On the other hand, the pre-charged air forces the water back into the system as it cools and contracts, preserving ideal pressure levels.
