Carrier HH18HB052 Defrost Thermostat is an essential part of refrigerator and freezer which controls the defrosting process of the device. This cycle periodically interrupts the cooling process to melt the frosted deposit on the evaporator coils for free airflow and cooling system efficiency. The defrost thermostat is an instrument that detects the temperature in the evaporator. When the system temperature setting is attained the low voltage thermostat actuates the defrost heater and begins the defrosting process. The defrosting is done by melting the frost and once the frost has melted and the temperature gets to a certain level, the defrost thermostat turns off the heater to continue normal cooling process.
