The Emerson Flow Control (Alco) 031357 Moisture Liquid Indicator is an essential product in HVAC systems, its purpose is to indicate the presence of moisture in the refrigerant lines through a visual method. This indicator is important for system maintenance and diagnostics because moisture contamination is a major problem for the system and its performance. The indicator operates through a sight glass containing a desiccant material. In case of the presence of moisture in the refrigerant, the desiccant will take up the moisture and the change of color within the sight glass becomes visible. The color variation in the mat reveals the signs of moisture and this means that the system has to be purged or the filters are replaced.
