Emerson-Flow Control (Alco) 060969 28.5Ton suction accumulator is suitable for R22 refrigerant. They come in pipe size of 1 5/8, and its purpose is to ensure that liquid refrigerant does not leak into the compressor since this is dangerous. Suction accumulators are applied in all types of HVAC systems such as chillers, air conditioners, and heat pumps. They enhance system performance, cut energy usage, and increase the compressor’s longevity by making sure only vapor refrigerant gets to the compressor. This helps avoid liquid slugging, a situation whereby liquid refrigerant gets pulled into the compressor which is destructive.
