The Trane RLY3179 is a time delay relay which is compatible with a 24 Volt electrical source and quite common in usage with HVAC systems. It does so by starting a circuit and then finishing the circuit. Finally, since the brief cycling damages compressors because they are switched on and off repeatedly, this delay is less likely to damage a compressor.
