The Trane SEN0432 Mercury Flame Sensor 48 is an essentialsafety shut off switch that must incorporate for HVAC system. It identifies the existence of a flame within your furnace or boiler. This sensor operates by means of a closed glass pipe with mercury poured into it. When the flame is burning, heat from the flame makes the mercury shift in its tube so as to make an electrical circuit. This informs the control board that the flame is on and working as it is supposed to do. In case the flame is extinguished or reduced, the mercury moves back to its initial position interrupting the circuit and the control board switching off the gas supply.
