Description
The Trane SHE5328 is a 5.45″ diameter cast iron sheave with a 1″ bore. HVAC systems use sheaves, and grooved wheels, to convey rotary motion with belts. In other words, they work like pulleys with a belt gripping groove around the rim. The Trane has a 1″ bore in the center of which a shaft can pass through and the belt rides inside the groove on the outside. This arrangement allows the sheave to turn or the shaft to turn depending upon how the belt is looped. Blower motors in air handling units, as in all other HVAC equipment, are usually equipped with Trane sheaves.
